Pupils from Kirk Hallam Community Technology and Sports College and Brackenfield School were among those who competed at the Derbyshire Winter School Games.
More than 700 school pupils from across Derbyshire represented their districts in disability swimming, indoor rowing, Quicksticks hockey or Sportshall Athletics at the county-wide event at Moorways Sports Complex in Derby on March 21.
And in a day of tough competition, Erewash narrowly missed out on being crowned the winning district overall, coming second to the Derbyshire Dales.
The Derbyshire Winter School Games are part of the national School Games programme, which is designed to build on the magic of 2012.
In the Swimming Plus competition the winners were Brackenfield School from Erewash, in second place was Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School from Derbyshire Dales, and in third place was a district team from Chesterfield.
In the indoor rowing Key Stage 3 event, Kirk Hallam Community Technology and Sports College from Erewash took third place, behind winners The Bolsover School, representing Bolsover district, and second-placed Meadows Community School from Chesterfield.
In the Indoor Rowing Plus, Brackenfield School from Erewash took second place, closely behind Anthony Gell School from the Derbyshire Dales.
