Long Eaton SC’s junior swimmers travelled to Mansfield’s Water Meadow Leisure Centre on Sunday to take part in the final of the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Junior Swimming League.
And a good team effort saw them finish in third place behind City of Derby and Nottingham Leander.
It was the 11-year age group that brought wins for the team with Francesca Muir-Harris winning the 50m freestyle, Joshua Langfield the 50m butterfly and Matthew Cartwright with two wins in the 50m freestyle and backstroke.
Matthew and Joshua were joined by Corbin Archer and Sam Frearson to power to a convincing victory over the City of Derby team in the 11-year-old boys freestyle relay.
The 12-year girls’ team of Elle Pryce, Francesca Muir-Harris, Chloe Blaydon and Rosy Smith put in a spirited performance but could not overcome City of Derby’s girls, finishing in second place.
It was the same for the 12-year-old boys’ medley relay team of George Barker, Joshua Langfield, William Foster and Matthew Cartwright.
There were also individual second places for Joshua (2), Francesca, Elle Pryce (2), George Barker, Jared Archer and William Foster which helped to keep the team in contention throughout the gala.
