New Ilkeston FC boss Gavin Strachan got off to the perfect start after a 4-0 friendly win over Peterborough United on Saturday.

Goals from a Michael Williams, Curtis Burrows, Joe Doyle and a trialist were enough to defeat the League One side.

Ilkeston hit the front inside the first minute when Williams made the most of a defensive error.

Ilkeston doubled the advantage on 29 minutes when Burrows converted after fantastic work from Doyle.

It was 3-0 on 40 minutes when Doyle volleyed home.

Ilkeston made mass changes at the break but it failed to interupt their flow.

The home side went four up on 68 minutes after another defensive error to cap a memorable start to the pre-season campaign.
