ALFRETON QTS Sunday League round-up.

Long Eaton suffered a blow in their efforts to get into the top six when they were beaten 4-1 at home by Bardon Hill.

The game got of to the worst possible start for United as, after just 62 seconds, they conceded a penalty. Steve Hart put the ball to Scott Lows right to open the scoring.

It was the visitors who continued in the ascendancy as Rich Hanslow and Steve Chaplin went close.

With United getting back into the game, King and Wells both went close.

But Stuart Hart extended the visitors lead after smart work down the left. Hart drifted unmarked into the centre of the penalty area, with the low cross evaded everyone apart from the striker and he slotted the ball into the net.

The game stretched out with both sides having good possession.

United pulled a goal back with three minutes left of the first half as O’Connor was found by a great ball down the right.

The striker took it in his stride before passing past the on rushing keeper.

But any thoughts of a comeback were extinguished as the visitors added a third when Richard Hamslow nodded in at close range when a ball into the box was allowed to go past the front post.

United battled hard and sub Westcarr, along with King, again bringing the best out of visitor’s keepe.

It was game over with seven minutes to go when Steve Chaplin rounded off the tie with a shot from eight yards.

United now travel to Bardon Hill before the home tie against bottom club Continental Star on Saturday 16th.
