The Spireites face high-flying Hartlepool United in ANOTHER huge clash in the race for promotion in the National League today (5.20pm KO).

This is about as tough as it gets for Town as they try and put an end to third-placed Pools’ 15-match unbeaten run.

Chesterfield go into this one on the back of a good win at rivals Bromley in midweek, while the hosts have not played for two weeks.

Rowe reaction to defeat

FT: Hartlepool United 3 v 1 Chesterfield

A spirited second 45 minutes from the Spireites but the first-half left them with a mountain to climb.

Town remain seventh, and face league leaders Torquay on Monday.

Reaction from James Rowe coming up.

Mandeville chips a ball to the back post, Maguire heads it back across goal but nobody had gambled. Almost full-time now.

It looks like the Spireites are going to fall to defeat, those three goals in the first-half killed the game. Town have rallied, but they’ve given themselves too much to do.

Third Town sub - 82 mins

Clarke off, Mitchell on.

And the Spireites are pressing for a second. They have had more joy in midfield this half.

Shoots wide on the half-volley on his left boot from the edge of the box. He has made an impact since coming on at the break. Thirteen minutes to go, 3-1.
