As another year comes to an end, it’s time to look back at some of the memorable moments for Derbyshire CCC during 2015.

It was a year highlighted by a couple of local derby victories, a career-best double century for an overseas star and a record three-straight hundreds for Billy Godleman.

Back in June, Derbyshire Falcons posted their highest ever Twenty20 score, 201-7, at The 3aaa County Ground to defeat local rivals Notts Outlaws by 34 runs in a thrilling East Midlands derby in front of more than 4,000 supporters. Nathan Rimmington even removed England star Alex Hales with the first ball he faced as Notts were shot out for 167.

Falcons enjoyed more derby joy with a four-wicket win over Yorkshire Vikings in front of a sold-out crowd at Queen’s Park, Chesterfield.

In April, Martin Guptill smashed his highest first-class score, a double century, to help Derbyshire claim their first victory of 2015 against Gloucestershire at Bristol. After an even first day, the New Zealand international put his side firmly on top with a typically destructive innings that featured 29 fours and 11 sixes.

In August, Billy Godleman, who enjoyed the best season of his career in 2015, scored centuries in each innings of the match against Kent at The 3aaa County Ground. The 26-year-old fired an unbeaten 105 in the second innings, to go with his 108 in the first innings and 101 against Leicestershire in the previous fixture previous to make it three straight LV=County Championship hundreds.

Another major milestone of 2015 saw three Derbyshire players hit maiden first-class centuries. Scott Elstone reached three figures for the first time in his career against Glamorgan at Cardiff in May, Matt Critchley, in only his second first-class fixture, posted a century the following week at Derby against Northamptonshire, and Alex Hughes hit a ton in the win over Northamptonshire in July.
