Ilkeston Swimming Club recently took part in the Leicester Winter League competition and recorded some fine results.
The club performed well and after three rounds and several years of waiting managed to qualify for the finals of the league which comprises of 20 different clubs.
The evening was held at Braunstone Leisure Centre with eight teams fighting it out for the ultimate prize and promotion to Division One of the local swimming club league.
Swadlincote Swimming Club prevailed to become champions on the night, with Ilkeston finishing in fourth place in the gala having ended the regular season in fifth place of the 20 teams.
Ilkeston achieved a total of 85 top three placings over all three rounds of competition, while the first two rounds included 84 personal bests and over 100 were recorded once the third round was taken into account.
Club chairman Roy Reynolds said: “This is a significant achievement for the swimming club and under the leadership of head coaches Robert Hudson and Andy Hickinbotham, the club continues to improve its performances in the local swimming competitions and galas.”
