Ilkeston Town ladies hit five

Ilkeston Town Ladies U15 5 West Bridgford 1

THE game started badly for the Ladies as after five minutes Colts' first attack resulted in a goalmouth scramble and the ball finding the net leaving goalkeeper Paige Richmond with no chance.

The Ladies composed themselves with the defence of Alex Duff, Bethany Harris, Louise Priest and Sophie Barratt keeping Colts away from goal

As Colts failed to clear their penalty area after some concerted pressure Jodie Parnham had a short range effort to make the game all square.

The second-half saw Ilkeston consolidating the game and the midfield of Amy Hardy, Shannie Oliver, Georgia Jones and Heather Griffin causing problems time and again.

Some tactical substitutions and team changes allowed Oliver into the space to link well with the forwards with Jones making the game 2-1 in Town's favour.

Oliver had a long-range effort on from 20 yards out which left the Colts goalkeeper stranded.

Not to be outdone Colts kept their heads with some runs down the left which goalkeeper Richmond handled well.

Further pressure from The Ladies resulted in a penalty for handball which Oliver drove home narrowly missing the keeper's fingertips.

Emma Barratt, Shannon Layton and Jodie Parnham were now rampant linking with Duff coming from defence to attack the goal with a shot which was well saved by the Colts keeper only to fall at the feet of Georgina Thornley to finish the game.

Man of the match was Shannie Oliver.

Ilkeston are still looking for new players and sponsors.
