Dean Saunders has '˜run out of clothes' and faces '˜Â£1,000' carpark fine

The former Chesterfield boss and Welsh international is working as a pundit for the BBC out in France.

But so convinced was he that Wales wouldn’t get as far as the quarter-finals, he left his car in Bimingham Airport’s short-stay car park.

And to make matters worse, he’s run out of clothes.

The 52-year-old said during a Five Live interview: “I tell you how confident I was with Wales. I parked in the short-stay car park at Birmingham Airport two weeks ago.

“I took a little suitcase that fitted onto the plane so I’ve run out of clothes and now I’m going to have a £1,000 bill when I get back to Birmingham because they charge you a fortune.

“That’s how confident I was and I’m still here two weeks later.

“But I’m just happy to be here.”

Wales Online report that Saunders’ carparking bill could actually be twice the amount he’s predicting, with charges rising to £100 per day in the airport’s short-stay.

However, a crowdfunding campaign has been launched to pay the parking fine.

Richard Jackson, who is Chris Coleman’s brother-in-law, set up the campaign in the hope that the BBC would cover Saunders’ fee, allowing any money raised to go towards helping grassroots football.

Saunders was appointed as Chesterfield manager on 13th May last year but departed on 28th November following a 4-0 home defeat to Swindon Town.
