Long Eaton swimmers put in a strong performance to produce a convincing A Team win in the second round of the 2011 Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Junior League held at Derby’s Queen’s Leisure Centre on Saturday.

With a win in the first round, this result takes them into the League Final, to be held in September.

Winners on the night, swimming in the 12 and under age group were Elle Pryce (50 metres butterfly, backstroke, freestyle) and George Barker (50 metres breaststroke).

It was a clean sweep in the 11 and under age group, with wins coming from Imogen Marshall (50 metres breaststroke), Francesca Muir-Harris (50 metres freestyle) Joshua Langfield (50 metres butterfly) and Matthew Cartwright (50 metres backstroke)

Jarred Archer also won the 10 and under 50 metres breaststroke.

Along with the successful relay squad this was a solid team performance.

Long Eaton won the event with 170 points, ahead of Etwall Eagles (157), Ilkeston (142), Ripley (126) and Matlock (96)

Also in action were the B Team, swimming at Eckington, and this saw nine-year-old Jennibel Hampson win the 25 metres breaststroke.
