Long Eaton SC members took part in two events last weekend which gave swimmers of all abilities an opportunity to compete.
Swimmers chasing Qualifying times for the Age Group Midland competition in June took this opportunity to take part in the Derventio Level One Open Meet at Sheffield’s Pond’s Forge International Pool.
Esther Halford, 12, achieved the necessary times in both the 200 and 400m free, as did 13-year-old Sian James in the 100m free.
Katie Sloan, 11, added more qualifying times in the 100 and 200m back to those achieved earlier in the season, as did Joshua Beech with the 100m freestyle.
Sloan enjoyed great success over the two days, taking gold in 400, 200, 100 and 50m free and the 100m fly and backstroke. This saw her win the 11-year-old age category as well as the prestigious title of Top Girl of the Meet.
Other Long Eaton swimmers who train full-time with the host club Derventio eXcel, and on this occasion swam in the Derventio colours, had many successes as they used the opportunity to gain National Qualifying Times for the British Gas Championships later in the year.
Matthew Cross won seven gold medals ensuring he took the 12-year-old category and was Top Boy of the Meet.
Elle Pryce (3), Krissy Tomlinson (2), Hannah Jones and Francesca Muir-Harris all won golds, while Kevin Wallbank (15 and over) and Elle Pryce (13 years) both won their age group category.
Other swimmers were in action at the Eckington Open Meet where there were wins for 12-year-old Oliver Tipping in the 100m fly, free, back and the individual medley.
There were also wins for Erin Dilks (3), Chloe Blaydon (2), Kye Hazleton and Sam Frearson.
