MATCH PREVIEW: Salford City v Ilkeston FC

Salford City will be looking for quick revenge over their visitors Ilkeston this weekend as the two teams do battle for the second time in seven days.

Ilkeston’s young squad won 2-1 at the New Manor Ground last weekend thanks to goals from Matt Baker and Curtis Burrows, Danny Webber’s goal back not enough in reply.

And while Saturday’s game on Salford’s own patch is likely to be a much tougher challenge for the Robins, their record against sides higher up the division remains impressive this season.

However, Monday’s 3-0 defeat at home to Stamford will have done little for Ilkeston’s confidence ahead of the trip to Manchester, while Salford bounced back from their defeat in Derbyshire by winning 2-0 at Marine on Tuesday night to put them back into fourth place in the Evo-Stik Premier Division.

Their home record isn’t as impressive as their away form, with six wins, five draws and five defeats at Moor Lane compared to 12 wins on the road.

Ilkeston last won away at Sutton Coldfield in January and have lost half of their away games so far this season as their campaign continues to see them sit in mid-table without looking like it will be promotion or relegation for Andy Watson’s men this time around.
