The Aviva Women’s Tour cycle road race is up-and-running after an exciting Stage 1 as spectators get set for its arrival in Derbyshire on Friday and Saturday.

Boels Dolmans rider and Luxembourg national champion Christine Majerus sprinted to victory in Norwich, yesterday, Wednesday, June 15, to clinch the opening stage of the Aviva Women’s Tour and the Aviva Yellow Jersey of race leader.

But Tetrick did win the combativity prize after she had been brought down in a crash.

Majerus also claimed the Chain Reaction Cycles Points Jersey, with her stage win giving her the advantage over Vos, with the two level on 15 points apiece.

Boels Dolmans rider Lizzie Armitstead, of Otley, finished in 18th, pulling on the Adnams Best British Rider jersey with Dutch rider Ilona Hoeksma of the Parkhotel Valkenburg team holding a three point advantage in the Strava Queen of the Mountains competition over Orica AIS rider Taylor Wiles.

Team Liv Plantury’s Floortje Mackaij was crowned Best Young Rider.
