Erewash’s Olivia Kelly celebrates national golf call up

Erewash Valley Golf Club’s Olivia Kelly is celebrating after being selected as a member of the Welsh Golfing Union Ladies National Training squad for 2015/16.

Olivia (17) is a member of the Performance Golf Academy programme run in partnership with Derby College will join the eight strong national squad on their winter training programme.

The programme commences on Saturday 10th October at Conwy Golf Club for a two day training camp.

Olivia said: “I am honoured to have been selected as a member of the Welsh Ladies national squad, it has been an ambition of mine to represent my country. “Playing in the girls Home Internationals was a fantastic experience, which I wish to be part of again in the future.

“I look forward to the winter training programme and getting ready for the 2016 season.

“I will be working hard on planning my schedule to target the main events I wish to perform well in during 2016.”

Olivia gained selection to the squad following a series of successful performances during 2015, the highlight being a solid 6h place finish in the Welsh Ladies stroke play championships played at Vale of Llangollen in May.

Olivia gained her first International call up during 2015, playing in the girls Home Internationals at Lanark Golf Club, Scotland in August where she won 2 of her matches against England and Scotland.

The squad will also travel overseas later in October to a Warm Weather training camp in Portugal.
