Medals galore for swimming club

Nine swimmers represented Team Ilkeston at the City of Derby Short Course B Grade Open Meet last weekend.

Swimmers were in fine form as they competed in their final open meet of the 2013-14 season.

The swimmers from Ilkeston Swimming Club were; Lauren Booth, William Foster, Angela Guilfoyle, Lewis Guilfoyle, Cameron Halliday, Sophie Jackson, Sophie King, Emily Middleton and Jo Saunders.

Senior captain Kyle Hudson said: “The swimmers’ efforts were commendable and it showed how much they wanted to succeed in every race and every stroke they took.

“The team racked up a total of 23 personal best times and 19 top three finishes which included five gold, nine silver, five bronze medals and one speeding ticket”.

Overall, a total of 26 top six positions were recorded during the meet out of 31 swims.

“It was another successful meet and all the swimmers impressed the coaching team once again with more good results”.

Rob Hudson, head coach at Ilkeston Swimming Club, said, at this late stage in the season we are seeing swimmers peak with their performances and swimming some fast times.

“We’ve now got just one more competition next weekend in the JC Dobb league trophy, which we are all looking forward too!”
