Medals record for Ilkeston swimmers at county championships

A record-breaking tally of 31 medals were won by Ilkeston Swimming Club at the 2016 Derbyshire ASA Youth and Age Group County Championships at Matlock.

No fewer than 11 gold medals were brought home, including six by Charlie Palmer, two by Lewis Brown, two by Alex King and one by Leah Burgin-Rawson.

Seventeen silver medals were won, including eight by Burgin-Rawson, three by Palmer, two by Brown and one apiece by James Wright, Kynan Wong, William Foster and William Wright. And five bronze medals were also pocketed by the Ilkeston swimmers, including two by William Wright and one each by Burgin-Rawson, Brown and Foster.

A total of 113 personal-best times and 58 top-six places were achieved, while Palmer was awarded the Alan Rapley Olympic Trophy and the Gordon Euston Trophy for being the fastest U15 boy.
