The 2013 Erewash Triathlon takes place this weekend with hundreds of competitors from across the country lining up for the annual event.
This year’s event takes place on Sunday, August 11, at West Park in Long Eaton and is being supported by Diabetes UK.
The triathlon continues to grow in popularity and spaces have been filling up fast.
The top prize for the winners of the men’s and women’s events will be automatic entry into next year’s Frankfurt City Triathlon, an international link-up that was established thanks to Long Eaton’s twinning links with Langen in Germany.
Cllr Mike Wallis, borough council lead member for culture and leisure, said: “Our link-up with the German event adds to the prestige and status that the Erewash Triathlon has achieved in attracting competitors from all over the country. It is a summer sporting highlight and it is also a great spectacle for all those who turn out to cheer on the competitors.”
