Nutbrook and White Rose have mixed starts
NUTBROOK began their Division Two campaign with a winning draw over Derby Congregational.
Richard Henshaw’s superb 97 was the highlight of their 272-7, with their opponents still having five wickets at the end of their allotted overs.
West Hallam WR fell at South Wingfield by five wickets despite Peter Hort’s 54, their hosts reaching the 183 target in 37 overs.
The second XIs met each other at Cock Orchard on Saturday with Nutbrook coming out on top.
White Rose batted first and reached 151-8 from their 46 overs, Duncan Goodwin top scorer with an unbeaten 42. Adam Brooks took 3-38.
In reply there were no particularly high innings from Nutbrook but they passed their target with two overs to spare, despite the efforts of A Henshaw who took 3-28.
West Hallam’s third XI had better luck as they hammered Duffield by nine wickets.
After dismissing their hosts for 175, Stuart Rayner and Oliver Hubbard taking three wickets each, it was left to an outstanding unbeaten 97 from Rob Palfreyman to help West Hallam to victory, supported by Hubbard’s 51 not out.
