Gavin Strachan says he has ‘plenty of irons in the fire’ as he looks to expand his Ilkeston FC squad ahead of the new season.
The new head coach has already secured the signatures of several new and existing squad members and as pre-season training edges closer is keen to add more to the list.
He still plans to talk to several members of last season’s squad, Eli Bako and Luke Shaw the latest to commit to Ilkeston for the new campaign.
Strachan said: “I’ll be looking forward to working with both players and the aim will be for them to be getting regular first team football this season.
“I still have lots of options to investigate although we may have to be patient on some targets as many are keen to have trials at Football League sides first, especially those already released by professional clubs at similar levels. It’s about quality not quantity.”
“I can’t wait to start training and seeing the players in action, including those on trial as we try and assess if the fit is right on both sides with how we will work.”
Sheffield Wednesday have been added to the pre-season schedule and will visit on Wednesday, July 15th. Strachan added: “The hope is they’ll bring their first team but they haven’t appointed a new manager yet and whoever that is may have different ideas, but either way it’ll be a really good test for us.”
Ilkeston will also visit Gresley FC on August 1st.
Meanwhile, the Robins have announced that they have dramatically slashed ticket prices for next season in an attempt to make football more affordable for all.
Admission will now be £6 for adults and £4 concessions, with children admitted free alongside a paying adult.
Season tickets are on offer until June 30th at a price of £120 adults and £80 concessions. Any Early Bird season tickets already purchased are now valid for two seasons.
After 4.30pm on June 30th, prices will go up to £180 adults and £110 concessions.
Chief executive Nigel Harrop said: “We know there is the potential for us to be attracting gates of over 600 and with this new pricing structure we’re hoping to see more people at the home games.
“We had hoped to charge just £5, but at the Northern Premier League’s AGM last weekend the committee decided to increase the minimum entry price from £5 to £6, however we still believe this offers great value for money.”
The club has also announced that admission to the friendly with Bedworth United on July 25th will be free to all fans.
*Ilkeston FC are to host a Q&A session with new boss Gavin Strachan on Friday night (26th)

Admission is free and the session will begin at 7pm. Chief executive Nigel Harrop will also be on hand for a short time to answer questions which can be submitted in the same way.
