Shipley Hall win at Spondon

SHIPLEY Hall started their Division Two campaign with a three-wicket win over Spondon.

The hosts reached 172 all out, with David Farnsworth in fine form to take 5-54. Daniel Haddon also bowled well, returning figures of 3-39.

In reply it was Stef Gamble who was Shipley’s main man, his 56 helping the visitors to their target in 38.3 overs and with three wickets to spare.

Shipley’s second XI were also victorious after a thrilling finish.

Visitors Matlock reached 187-4 from their 46 overs, Luke Pressland 90 not out.

Shipley stuttered in their reply though Ryan Essex’s 63 not out was a major factor in their eventual victory, confirmed with just one ball to spare and with only one wicket left standing.

The thirds lost at Ilkeston Rutland, see Ross Slater’s report (right) for more details.
