United hit the summit

Tipton Town 1 Long Eaton Utd 4

Long Eaton continued their good start to the season as they won 4-1 at struggling Tipton Town on Saturday in the Midland Football League to go back to the top of the table.

After the hosts saw a couple of early chances go close, United’s Fabian Smith struck the crossbar and Lee Fell also went close.

United took the lead on 39 minutes when Fell’s cross was headed home by Brad Wells, on his return to the club.

Fell then saw a penalty strike the crossbar before half-time, but there was still time for him to make amends when he volleyed home United’s second.

The second-half saw Tipton pull one back through Robbie Duffield whose header was only just over the line, but Fell made it 3-1 on 69 minutes with an unstoppable shot and Elliott King rounded things off with the fourth late on.
