The weather had the final say in Nutbrook’s games on Saturday, as was the case with so many matches across the area.
The first team was at home to Langley Mill in Division Two of the DCCL.
After an hour’s delay, the umpires gave the ok to start the match at 2.30 pm with teams contesting 37 overs a side.
The Brook won the toss and asked the Millers to bat.
Max Magann got opener Lewis Pinder caught and bowled with his fourth ball to make it 9-1 in only the first over.
Jack Scott and Jamie Salmons then put on 63 for the second wicket for Langley Mill.
Matt Wakefield then bowled Scott for 31 to end their stand.
Salmons reached his 50 before the umpires halted play at 120-2 in the 26th over .
Max Magann had taken 1 -27, Matt Wakefield 1-21 when the heavy rain then put end to the day’s play. Both sides took seven points from the truncated game.
The 2nds were away to Clowne Town and were put in to bat by their hosts.
They soon lost early wickets and found themselves 54-5.
This eventually became 128-9 in 3o overs, mainly due to top scorer Lewis Hay wood’s 28. Then came the storm and that was that. The Brook took eight points.
The 3rd team match was cancelled against Stanton Elks 2nds.
