Shipley Hall remain fifth in Derbyshire League Division Three after being beaten at home to Hilton on Saturday.
Hilton won the toss and put Shipley Hall in to bat on a wicket that proved something of an enigma.
With the ball not quite coming on to the bat, the Shipley batsmen struggled to accumulate runs.
Even Mark Starr, who likes to put bat to ball and score quickly, had to be very circumspect and his 36 runs had to be grafted for very slowly in his patient innings.
Martinus Gouws hit a useful 17 in a stand of 54 with Starr, while Ryan North scored 14 but Shipley were all out for 140.
The heroes for Hilton were the Whitworth brothers, Joe and Dominic, who took 5-33 and 3-26 respectively.
When Hilton batted, Dominic Whitworth hit a quick 38 in 30 minutes, showing the pitch held no fears for him and with Gregson, added 40 in quick time.
Gregson was eventually LBW to Ryan North for 35 but the Hilton batsmen had done their job.
The Shipley bowlers managed to get six wickets but Hilton surpassed Shipley’s total comfortably and won by four wickets.
Matt Murfin took 3-50, D avid Farnsworth 1-27 and North 2-37 as Hilton took 27 points to Shipley’s seven.
