Simon Mayor and Hilary James will be in concert at the Guildhall Theatre, Derby, on Saturday, May 19, and then on Sunday, May 20.
Simon Mayor is one of the world’s leading mandolin virtuosos and composers for the instrument as well as a fine guitarist, fiddle player and wit.
Hilary James’s elegant singing is regarded as one of the purestvoices to be found on the English musical stage. Quintessentially English, they easily cross the great musical divides from British ballads to blues and Berlioz.
Their repertoire encompasses folk, traditional, Celtic, swing, blues and classical music richly illustrated by a diverse range of instruments from mandolin, guitar, banjos, ukuleles, double bass and Hilary’s famous giant mandobass.
The Saturday show is from 8pm while the Sunday performance is a children’s gig called Musical Mystery Tour, starting at 2pm.
