Women from Ilkeston were amongst thousands who took part in Cancer Research UK’s Race For Life on Sunday.
The annual event at Darley Park saw a 5k event take place in the morning and a 10k run in the afternoon.
We asked readers to send their pictures in from the day through our popular Facebook page and here they are.
Among those running were friends Kim Blaydon, Louise Acton and Louise Maggs. Kim said: “I lost my granddad to cancer in September 1991 when I was nine years old.
“My sister-in -law Louise (Acton) recently lost her uncle, and our friend Louise lost her dad to cancer 13 years ago. It’s an awful disease that’s destroys lots of people’s lives.”
Also taking part were staff from Ladywood Primary School in Kirk Hallam, as well as friends Kerry Austin, Clare Routledge, Kyrie Routledge and Megan Oxley.
Kyrie said: “We did it for family members and close friends.”
Around 3,500 women took part in the 5k race, many with names written on their back in dedication to people they knew who had lost their lives to cancer.
‘Tiser reporter Sarah Bould also took part and raised a total of £130. Her granddad lost his battle with cancer in November, and her mum and grandma fought breast cancer last year.
