A HA Ha Road film season and a new collection for the BFI Mediatheque at Quad will compliment the new exhibition, Ha Ha Road, at the Derby arts centre next month.
Planes, Trains And Automobiles (15), from 1987, stars Steve Martin and John Candy as two reluctant travelling companions as they team up to travel cross country back home for Thanksgiving. A classic comedy, it screens on Monday, September 12, at 6.05pm and Tuesday, September 13, at 2pm and 8.30pm.
O Brother Where Art Thou? (12A) from 2000, is the Coen Brothers’ take on Homer’s epic poem The Odyssey, transposing the tale from ancient Greece to the Deep South of the 1930s, complete with gangsters, convicts, chain gangs, campaigning governors, the KKK, sirens, and great floods. It screens on Wednesday, September 14, at 2pm, Friday, September 16, at 8.15pm, Saturday, September 17, at 6.15pm and Wednesday, September 21, at 8.15pm.
Finally, Everything Is Illuminated (12A) from 2005, is based on the best-selling novel by Jonathan Safran Foer.
It follows the story of a young Jewish man trying to find a woman who saved his grandfather during World War II. Starring Elijah Wood, it screens on Friday, September 23, at 6.10pm and Saturday, September 24, at 8.10pm.
