Another Bird’s Eye View, by popular townscape artist Rebecca Morledge, is the exhibition in the Sir Richard Morris Lounge at Derby Cathedral Centre from November 1-27.
This will be Rebecca’s second exhibition at the centre, hence the title of her show.
She explained: “I have always had a love of art but it wasn’t until I was a mum with four children and in my 30s that I decided to look at the possibility of making a career out of art.”
After evening class study and a degree in illustration at the University of Derby in 2005, she decided in 2009 to enter the local art competition.
“I set out to create a painting that I would like to buy. I’ve always loved children’s books and that, with a love of painting buildings led me to create my first ‘bird’s eye’ view over Derby.
“Since then I have continued to work in this style, creating paintings of real and imagined places full of characters and fun.
“I love to paint local towns and pretty villages around Derbyshire but living so far from the sea I have a special appreciation of the seaside and everything that comes with it.”
The exhibition will be open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, and is closed on Sundays.
