Big names in new season’s line-up

The Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham have announced an uplifting and inspirational new season for March to May, bursting with energy, compelling dramatic performances and high energy music and dance.

Comedy and fun play a major role at both venues this spring with Sarah Millican, Paul Merton, Rhod Gilbert and Dara O’Briain at the Royal Concert Hall and the return of pantomime star Joe Pasquale to the Theatre Royal in April in the classic British comedy Doctor In The House, alongside Robert Powell.

The RSC’s stunning new production of Shakespeare’s romantic comedy The Taming Of The Shrew will visit the Theatre Royal in March.

Musical theatre fans will be spoilt for choice this spring with a star-studded line-up of productions including the dazzlingly popular musical comedy Sister Act starring Denise Black and Michael Starke, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s heart-warming classic The King And I, starring Ramon Tikaram and Josefina Gabrielle, the new rock ‘n’ roll musical Save The Last Dance For Me, Leonard Bernstein’s Wonderful Town, and a lavish Broadway production of South Pacific which boasts a stellar cast of West End names. The original High School musical Grease also makes a welcome return in April, starring ice champion Robin Cousins as Teen Angel.

Big names at the Royal Concert Hall this season will include Matt Cardle, McFly, Joan Baez, David Sylvian, Chris Rea, The Osmonds, Don Williams, Ryan Adams and Elvis Costello. Also appearing will be Brit Award winner Laura Marling, Irish singing sensation Tommy Fleming and a concert to celebrate the work of folk legend Sandy Denny.

Dance fans will delight in the return of the global phenomenon Stomp to the Theatre Royal in April, and also the debut visit of youthful and exuberant contemporary dance company Nederlands Dans Theater.
