THE Halle will be on hand to launch the 2011-2012 Nottingham Classics season at the city’s Royal Concert Hall on Friday, September 30.

The concert will be conducted will by Andre De Ridder and gets under way at 7.30pm.

It will begin with the exhilarating Scherzo Fantastique by Josef Suk and continues with the much-loved Cello Concerto, written by his rather more famous father-in-law Antonin Dvorak.

Two works by French masters that depict the sea in all its many moods will complete the programme. They are Maurice Ravel’s Une Barque Sur L’Ocean and and Claude Debussy’s La Mer.

The cello soloist in the concerto will be German performer Alban Gerhardt, who made a fine impression on his previous appearance at the venue.

Tickets to see The Halle in action cost £10-£32 and are available from the box office on 0115 9895555.
