DCO to play three classics

After a succesful Family Christmas Concert there earlier this month, Derby Concert Orchestra will return to Derby Cathedral for a performance on March 15.

The programme is to feature three popular works: Johannes Brahms’ sAcademic Festival Overture, Dvorak’s much-loved Cello Concerto, featuring soloist Graham Morris, and Rimsky-Korsakov’s spectacular orchestral showpiece Scheherezade.

The concert will be conducted by Jonathan Trout.

n The first recital of 2014 in the Sunday Morning Piano Series at Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall takes place on Sunday, January 26.

Sarah Beth Briggs will be performing from 11am and her programme of music will feature Scarlatti’s Sonata In C, Beethoven’s Sonata No 8 ‘Pathetique’, Benjamin Britten’s Three Character Pieces and two works by Chopin - Berceuse and the Fantasie in F Minor.

The concert lasts for an hour and tickets are £10, with tea, coffee and cake included in the price.
