Belper & District Organ Club’s next presentation is a change to the previously advertised concert.
Due to unavoidable circumstances Dirk Jan Ranzijn from Holland is unable to be present. He will however be in Belper in 2016.
For this concert, the club is pleased to welcome Eddie Ruhier from Huddersfield, although he was born in Lincolnshire.
He began his career as an accompanist to ice dancing and also took a few leaves of absence, usually to do summer seasons at places like Skegness and Aberystwyth, and to work on the ships. He played on the Cunard liners Princess, Countess, and QE2 - doing a complete World Cruise on QE2 in 1980.
He began playing concerts in the late 70s, taking a Hammond L103, which had been split into two for portability, and a Leslie speaker. Since then He hasn’t stopped. For many years He used a Hammond X5 and an even bigger Leslie. He now plays a KeyB Duo together with backing tracks produced on computers & keyboards in his own studio at home.
Away from the organ world, his other great passion is motor biking.
A great evening of music of all styles from all decades is assured. Come along and you will not be disappointed.
The concert will take place at 7.30pm at The Congregational Church, Green Lane, Belper on Saturday, April 18.
Admission is £5 for members and £7 for non-members, including refreshments.
Everyone is welcome. For further details call 01773 827204.
