Nottingham Symphony Orchestra is to follow up its highly successful Curtain Up concert last month, in support of Save The Children, by making its latest visit to Southwell Minster on Saturday, July 5.
The concert, to be conducted by Derek Williams, gets under way at 7.30pm and will feature four popular pieces.
First on the programme will be Mendelssohn’s dramatic and tuneful Ruy Blas Overture. The other pieces in the concert will be performances of Sibelius’s much-loved Violin Concerto - featuring the talented soloist Martyn Jackson - plus Borodin’s short but evocative tone poem In The Steppes Of Central Asia and Dvorak’s Seventh Symphony.

n The Halle return to Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall on Thursday, June 12, in a performance to be conducted by Cristian Mandeal, and getting under way at 7.30pm.
The concert features Ravel’s Alborada Del Gracioso and La Valse, plus Chausson’s Poeme, Saint-Saens’s Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso, Enescu’s Romanian Rhapsody No 1, and Respighi’s Roman Festivals.
