The Studio at Derby Theatre is to be the venue for a performance of The Bogus Woman on Saturday, September 12.
Curtis Productions and Theatre By The Lake will present Kay Adshead’s play, which can be seen from 8pm.
An African woman arrives in a strange country fleeing for her life, seeking safety and asylum.
Despite having committed no crime, she is indefinitely confined, interrogated, humilated and abused.
She witnesses the cruelty of authority and their casual disregard for the individual’s rights. This strange country is England.
Krissi Bohn (Coronation Street) performs this powerful, poetic and heart-wrenching play, which contains strong language and has an age recommendation of 16-plus.
Tickets to see The Bogus Woman are £10 (£7 concessions) and are available from the box office at the venue on 01332 593939.
n Later in the month, Tortoise In A Nutshell and Oliver Emanuel present The Lost Things, in The Studio on September 25.
In The Lost Things, a boy falls and finds himself in a dark and terrifying new world.
It is a world of lost things: car keys, wedding rings, dads and a mysterious girl who is building an amazing machine. Performed in a unique dome structure, The Lost Things is about losing things and finding things you didn’t even know you were looking for.
The performance starts at 8pm and is for those aged nine and over.
