The British blues aces Stan Webb’s Chicken Shack will return to The Flowerpot in Derby on Friday, March 1.

Stan Webb is one of this country’s best blues guitarists and an artist who has played with some of the very best musicians in the history of the blues.

His dynamic guitar style and huge stage presence have made Chicken Shack a firm favourite with rock and blues fans everywhere.

It’s 45 years since Stan Webb started Chicken Shack and upped sticks to Hamburg and the famous Star Club. Barely two years later, he was back in the UK and riding the top of the charts with I’d Rather Go Blind with the band’s new vocalist Christine Perfect (aka McVie), later of Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours era.

Their first two albums 40 Blue Fingers Freshly Packed And Ready To Go and O.K. Ken stormed into the top 20 in the late sixties, while the singles When The Train Comes Back and Tears In The Wind spent a combined 19 weeks in the top 30.

Throughout an acclaimed career, Stan Webb has played and recorded with the very best, including, Stevie Wonder, Howling Wolf, Taj Mahal, Canned Heat and Peter Green. Stan Webb and Chicken Shack show no sign of slowing down, continually touring the U.K. and Europe to packed houses and rave reviews.

Then, on Saturday, March 2, the King Street venue plays host to Small Fakers with their tribute to the music of The Small Faces.

Ever found yourself wanting to go and see The Small Faces? Like it was The Marquee in ‘65? Check out this lot then, four geezers who transcend the genre of tribute band by delivering both the sound and the sartorial panache of the capital’s very own Fab Four.

The pedigree of the praise they have received is second to none, including support from Kenney Jones himself, Toby and Mollie Marriott, Ronnie Lane’s brother - Stan Lane, biographer John Hellier, and Val Weedon from The Small Faces Fan Club.

Doors open at 8pm for both gigs and admission is £12 for Stan Webb’s Chicken Shack and £10 for The Small Fakers.
