The Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall Nottingham’s forthcoming June to August season is unashamedly full of summertime fun.

The treats in store range from the tropical sunshine of South Pacific to the smouldering cell blocks of Chicago, from the original cast of Birds of a Feather reunited on stage to the hilarious and irreverent Avenue Q.

An impressive line-up of stellar names will light up the Royal Concert Hall stage this summer including Dionne Warwick, George Benson, Nigel Kennedy, Russell Watson and Frankie Boyle, plus four sensational stars of the classical music world, Lesley Garrett, Alison Balsom, Nicola Benedetti and Natalie Clein, will perform together in a special concert to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Flawless and English National Ballet come together in an explosive combination of street dance, acrobatics and ballet in June, followed in August by Andrew Lloyd Webber’s skating spectacular Starlight Express.

August at the Theatre Royal just wouldn’t be the same without The Colin McIntyre Classic Thriller Season, this year offering five weeks of terrifying murder mysteries.

To get fans in the mood, last year’s most popular thriller, Death by Fatal Murder, will return for one week in June.

Drama fans can expect compelling performances from Hayley Mills and Belinda Lang in the poignant stage adaptation of Ladies in Lavender at the Theatre Royal in June.

For younger theatregoers, Plop the baby barn owl will be making his stage debut in August with a charming new stage adaptation of the children’s classic book The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark.

Other highlights of the season include the original radio cast performing The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, the return of the delightfully entertaining Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain and, to celebrate Jamaica’s 50th Anniversary, the Caribbean’s king of comedy Oliver Samuels performing his new play.
