Churches are open in county event

The Derbyshire Church Open Day is an event that is taking place on Saturday, September 13.

This is a chance to visit some of the most historic and attractive buildings in our area.

Among those taking part are:

n All Saints, Dale Abbey.

n St Mary's Church, Ilkeston, is open from 9am-1pm. Refreshments are available from 9am-12noon.

n All Saints, Risley

n St Helen’s in Pinxton, open from 10am-6pm. There is a craft table for youngsters, plus family sports fun. There is also lunchime food, a prayer table with tea-light candles and refreshments available all day

n St James’s in Riddings is open from 10am-4pm. Church is open to commemorate the centenary of World War One with exhibits, music and memorabilia. A meal typical of that time will be served.

n St Michael and All Angels, South Normanton is open from 10am-4pm

n St Matthew’s in Morley, open from 2pm-4pm, with tea and biscuits. The adjacent Sacheverell Bateman Mausoleum is open in the afternoon.
