The legendary, record-breaking, box office smash hit thriller The Mousetrap is to return to its Nottingham birthplace to celebrate its 60th anniversary.

The Mousetrap is famous around the world as the longest running show of any kind in the history of British theatre with over 23,000 performances. Famously, the Theatre Royal, Nottingham, hosted the play’s world premiere on October 6, 1952, prior to its record-breaking run in the West End. This legendary production will be returning to its birthplace with an all-star cast, as part of its first ever UK tour, from May 13-18 2013.

Stephen Waley-Cohen, producer of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap, said of the play’s return to Nottingham: “It was, famously, after the first night in Nottingham that Agatha Christie told Richard Attenborough, the leading actor in the original production, that she thought they should have a ‘nice little run’ and it’s still going strong.”
