Award-winning storyteller Maria Whatton will be weaving spooky tales for Hallowe’en at Cromford Mills on Thursday, October 31.

From 6pm to 7pm, she will be telling spooky stories and then, after supper, from 7.15pm to 9,30pm, Maria will be regaling the audience with an eerie array of sinister tales by lantern light.

From 6pm to 7pm, Maria’s spooky stories will be suitable for children and adults and will be spooky, funny and entertaining.

All are designed so as not to give the children nightmares….or even the adults for that matter!

Weather permitting, there will be a short lantern-lit story walk around the mill yard. Children are welcome to come dressed up as their favourite Hallowe’en character and bring a torch or battery-operated lantern. The cost is £6 for adults and £4 for children.

Adults and older children (12-plus) can join in from 7.15pm when, after a warming bowl of pumpkin soup and homemade cake, Maria will weave an eerie array of sinister tales that will take you to the darker side of your imagination. There will also be stories by lantern light amongst the dark and atmospheric buildings in the mill yard weather permitting. The cost is just £10 including supper.

Catherine Roth, events officer for the Arkwright Society, said: “Cromford Mills is such an atmospheric venue for Hallowe’en tales and with such an acclaimed storyteller as Maria Whatton it is sure to be an evening to remember.”
