An Ilkeston vet is appealing to pet owners to regularly treat their animals for fleas.
Ceri Andrews from Priory Vets said a lot of people only treat their cats and dogs during the season from late April to the end of November, but having recently seen a rise in cases, she is urging people to treat them all year round.

Ceri said: "Almost one third of pet owners are still not getting the message that in order to protect pets and homes against fleas, they need to treat them regularly. If they do suffer an outbreak, fleas can be a real source of misery for cats and dogs."
