The RSPCA teamed up with the police to offer residents in Cotmanhay advice on pet care.
The Community Animal Action Week, which has already visited eight towns across the East Midlands, offered advice on responsible pet ownership, micro-chipping and neutering.

PCSO Agnieszka Podolska, from the Cotmanhay Safer Neighbourhood team, worked with RSPCA inspector Helen Mead and visited homes on Beauvale Drive, Skeavingtons Lane and Pavilion Drive.

The areas chosen are those which are the busiest for the RSPCA on a day-to-day basis.

Now an annual event, community animal action week is in its second year after helping more than 2,800 animals in 2006.

RSPCA officers team up with dog wardens and police community support officers to visit as many homes in the selected areas as possible.

The service is free, but anyone receiving help is welcome to make a small donation towards the charity's costs.
