In another photograph from Karl Aldred’s scrapbook, the Booth’s workers were watching the funeral of King George VI, back in April 1953.
George was our current Queen Elizabeth’s father.
Karl said that, despite the fact that the funeral, shown on BBC One, was at night, workers came back to work to watch it.
“You used to go back most nights,” said Karl. “You went home and couldn’t wait to get back.”
