Over at Holymoorside Village Hall, Karen Herrick will display textile wall art inspired by the seasons, nature, faith stories and colour. She uses photography, scribbles and sketches, paper collage and research to prepare layered textile art pieces from hand coloured or printed fabrics.

Karen, of Harlequin Arts, said: “Most of my work tells a story and is a reflection of myself. This has enabled me to inspire creativity in primary education, health settings, community art, adult education and creative retreats.”

Eddie Hallam’s life size sculptures of British birds and wildlife cast in bronze will take pride of place at Riber Art Gallery, adjacent to Greenways Farm, Riber, Matlock.

The event will feature 112 artists using glass, fabric, stone, yarn, metal, glaze, acrylics, wool, ceramics, film, textiles, paint and charcoal to interpret the industrial and natural beauty of Derbyshire.

Derbyshire Open Arts founder Ally Roberts said: “For our visitors this is a chance to find out what inspires real artists, to interact with how they go about their work and find out why they do what they do!

“For our artists it is a fantastic opportunity to promote their work, share their enthusiasm and meet potentialclients. With the ever growing global interest in all forms of art and design, both commercially and domestically, this is a very important event.

“We hope that we can build on the great fortune we have encountered over the last ten years and we look forward to welcoming visitors at our interesting and educational event over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend.”
