Council wardens dished out 23 fines for littering in the borough last month – and collected 22 stray dogs.
The Conservative leading group has praised Erewash’s wardens for doing a good job.
Cllr Kewal Athwal said: “The council’s street cleaners work very hard to keep Erewash clean and tidy and I am delighted that our wardens are giving fines to people who, for whatever reason, do not use the large number of litter bins throughout Erewash.”
The council’s dog wardens carried out patrols watching for dog fouling at 167 different locations where a number of fines were issued, he said.
Lead member for the environment, Cllr Barbara Harrison agreed and urged residents to report dog fouling incidents calling 0115 850 8383 or texting 07792 701583.
She said that reports can be made anonymously.
“It is vital that our dog wardens know where and when there is a problem so that they can catch the offenders,” she said.
