A ‘recovery walk’ to raise awareness of substance misuse disorders and recovery from addiction takes place in Ilkeston for the first time on Friday (September 19).

The four-mile Derbyshire Recovery Walk will start from Ilkeston Library, in Market Place, at 11.30am and finish at Shipley Country Park around two hours later.

Derbyshire County Council cabinet member for health and communities, Councillor Dave Allen said: “The walk has become an important event in raising awareness about substance misuse and the support services we fund and we’re pleased that Derbyshire is now hosting a similar event.

“As well as promoting the help available to people struggling with substance misuse issues, it’s also a way of celebrating the achievements of people in recovery and showing that there is life after addiction.”
