PREPARATIONS for this year’s Party on the Rec are in full swing and organiser Kurt Whitten has already promised that the event will once again be ‘bigger and better’.
The annual event has been growing in size and popularity since it began in 2007.
Kurt said: “I know I said the same last year but this year will be bigger and better than ever before.
“We had a site meeting the other day with an organisation who are bringing tanks along, we’ve got more bands this year and everything we had last year and more.
“We’re counting down already and everyone is really looking forward to it.”
The all day community event will see thousands of people flock to the Awsworth Village Recreation Ground, The Lane, on Saturday July 7.
A Take That tribute act are top of the bill on the main stage as well as bands, Hanger 3 and Brotherhood.
More fun fair rides have also been booked and will pack out the Rec.
Organisers have not yet put together the final programme and there’s still time for anyone who would like to volunteer to help out on the day or groups who would like to perform to get in touch.
