Barber hangs up his apron after 13 years

An Ilkeston barber has handed on his scissors after 13 years cutting townsfolk’s locks.

John Frudd, also an Erewash borough councillor for Kirk Hallam, has retired from his Pelham Street business.

“Building a business from scratch and turning it into a thriving barber’s shop has been a truly rewarding experience,” he said.

“During the past 13 years, most of my clients have made the progression from customers to personal friends.”

John’s Barbers will now be run by Heanor barbers Gary Furness and John Parry, and apprentice Nathan Shatton.

“I know that the business will be in safe hands and will continue to go from strength to strength, added John.
