The Pet Blood Bank has issued an urgent appeal for doggy heroes to give the gift of life.

Blood stocks are running low in Long Eaton and so Ashfield House Veterinary Hospital on Derby Road will host a donor session on Sunday, May 22.

As owner said: “My beloved whippet Corrie was suddenly taken seriously ill and needed a blood transfusion.

“Without Pet Blood Bank UK, we would have had to beg people to put forward their dogs as donors, and hope for a match. I don’t think Corrie would have survived the wait.”

Donations take around 40 minutes, including a free full health check and a goody bag for your dog.

Donor must be aged between one and eight, weigh at least 25 kilograms, be up-to-date with vaccinations and have a good temperament.
