THE BODY of woman may have lain undiscovered for six weeks, an inquest heard this week.
The body of Margaret Slack, 83, was found at her home in Albert Street, Ilkeston, on Monday July 18 by police.
Neighbours became suspicious after noticing her washing had not been taken in.
Pc Sarah-Jane Gibbs from Ilkeston police station, who visited the property, told Derby Coroners’ Court that officers had difficulty identifying her body because her body was so decomposed.
A newspaper was found in Mrs Slack’s bin dated Thursday June 9, which led police to believe she could have been undiscovered for up to six weeks.
Pc Gibbs said there were no suspicious circumstances.
The inquest was adjourned until a date yet to be fixed.
