An inquest has opened into the suspected suicide of a Kirk Hallam man who went missing from his home for more than two weeks.
Kevin Royston was found hanging from a tree on farmland off Littlewell Lane, close to Stanton Bonna, on the morning of Sunday July 21, Pc Alexander Lee told Derby Coroners Court.
Mr Royston, 49, went missing from his home in Windsor Crescent on Thursday July 4.
Officers followed lines of enquiry that he may have gone to Skegness or Ingoldmells in Lincolnshire.
The inquest was opened on Tuesday (July 30) and adjourned until a later date.
Police said there were no suspicious circumstances.
Among tributes paid to Mr Royston were from Darren Baker on the Advertiser’s Facebook page.
He said: “Can’t believe the very sad news of Kevin.
“He was in the same class as me at school, very quiet but funny guy .
“Top man, RIP Kevin.”
