BROXTOWE Borough Council has scooped a national award for the cleanliness of three of its town centres, including Stapleford.

The council was awarded the Five Star Award for Cleanliness at the Clean Britain Awards following an independent assessment of Beeston, Eastwood and Stapleford.

The prize was awarded for the minimal amount of litter, chewing gum, cigarette butts, fly-tipping and graffiti, and the provision of litter bins across each town.

The awards are organised by the British Cleaning Council.
